Wat Chong Kham
The Wat Chong Kham in Mae Hong Son is found on the southern banks of Chong Klang Lake. It was built in 1827 by the Thai Yai of Burma. The pillars are covered in gold leaf.
There is a large Buddha image by Burmese craftsmen. It is very close to Wat Chong Klang, which has a copy of the Phra Buddha Singh, ancient wooden Burmese dolls representing stages of the Buddha's life, and stained glass. Most of the writings are in Burmese.
Wat Chong Kham sits in front of a small lake with the same name, and adjacent to Wat Chong Klang. Although it is the oldest wat in Mae Hong Son, having been founded in 1827 by the Shan ruler Phaya Singhanataraj, it unfortunately is mostly a reconstruction from the 1970s, as the original burned down. The wat's distinguishing feature is a large viharn is graced with a seven-layer pyatthat (multi-tiered spire).
