Kok River
Discover one of the most scenic attractions in Chiang Rai. The Kok River waves its way from Thathon in northern Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai City, and flows to Chiang Khong to meet the Mae Kong River.
Boats and rafts leave daily from Baan Thathon to the magnificent mountains nearby, where the jungle verge into the river’s tickling cool waters. Long-tailed boat services are available to carry visitors up and down the river, who might stop at the Akha, Lisu, and Karen hill tribe villages. Another option of stops is the Buddha cave, a temple within a cavern; an elephant camp, for trekking; a hot spring; and the riverside Lahu tribe village. Prices of the trip range from 300 Baht to 700 Baht according to the number of stops made. The pier can be found located beyond the bridge across from the Dusit Island Resort.
