Discover hill tribes villages of Northern Thailand on a 4 day cycling tour through authentic rural landscapes, along the scenic Mae kok river and on challenging off road trails.

You will start your first day by cycling at Bua Thong waterfall and then follow country back roads before using a trail cut by elephants through the forest. Our second day begins with a tour of the Chiang Dao caves before heading out into the light and riding among soaring limestone cliffs on a mixture of dirt paths cut by local hill tribes. Your third day commences at a temple retreat the Tub Tao caves and later in the day follow the Mae Kok river to the town of Mae Salak to end one of the most scenic rides of the trip. Your last day, cycling an off-road trail and then change vehicles to a boat as you hitch a ride on a long-tail boat. You can also spend some time on an elephant before getting back on the bikes and head to Chiang Rai.   

  • Day 1: Chiang Mai - Cycling to Chiang Dao – 35km (L, D)

    Pick up from hotel in Chiang Mai in the morning and transfer to start of your day at Bua Thong waterfall. From here you will cycle along country back roads before cutting off-road and riding an elephant trail through the forest to your hotel near Chiang Dao. The hotel has a great pool and a swim is a fine way to finish off a great riding day.

  • Day 2: Chiang Dao Tribal Trails – 45km (B, L, D)

    Take a transfer to the Chiang Dao caves and the start of your ride. After a visit to the cave you will cycle through rice fields set among soaring limestone cliffs. You cycling trip will be a mixture of dirt paths cut by local hill tribes and you may meet some local tribes people - Akha, Lisu,and Palaung - from the area. The colourful Palaung are recent migrants and you will see their women adorned with heavy brass waist-bands working the fields.

  • Day 3: Back Roads to Mae Salak – 45km (B, L, D)

    After breakfast,  transfer to Tub Tao Caves and temple retreat and then on to Fang and the start of your ride. From here you will cycle the back roads through many small villages. The ride to Mae Salak follows the Mae Kok river and is one of the most scenic on the trip. End the day's pleasurable ride at the small town of Mae Salak and this gives you time to enjoy the well-situated resort. After enjoying the view over the river from your room, or having a dip in the pool, you'll be entertained by local Lahu children who will come to the resort and perform traditional music and dance.

  • Day 4: Cycling to Chiang Rai – 40km (B, L)

    You will be cycling about 8 km off-road to a Jakhu village where you then hitch a ride on a long-tail boat (with your bikes) to Ban Ruamitr. There's an option to have a ride on an elephant around this area before you finally mount the bikes and head to Chiang Rai.
